You must submit an annual return to an authorized Corporate Registry service provider each year around the formation date of Incorporation. A reminder may be mailed to your corporation’s registered office one month before the date of formation of your incorporation.
Annual return must be filed by a director, shareholder, officers or agent of the legal entity each year. The annual return gives information about the appointment of shareholders to the corporation and if there are changes to the address and directors, additional forms are required to update the Corporate Registry System. This is a provincial government filing requirement. If the annual return is not filed within two consecutive years, the Alberta Corporation, Society, or Non-Profit Company will be stricken-off by Alberta Corporate Registry.
*Note: This is a separate filing from your corporate income tax that is submitted to Alberta Treasury Board & Finance.
Please refer to the chart below to see when your corporate annual return must be filed to avoid being struck. If an extra-provincial corporation does not file its corporate annual return information, its registration will be cancelled in Alberta.
