Requesting a Copy of Your Abstract
Driver abstracts can be issued for a 3, 5 or 10 year period. You must come in person to request a copy of your abstract. You must present acceptable identification and complete a Request for Personal Driving and Motor Vehicle Information and specify the amount of years you want included in your search. The abstract is printed at the time of the request.
Requesting a Copy of a Minor’s Abstract
A parent/legal guardian may apply on behalf of a minor (person under 18 years of age), who is not self-supporting or married. The parent/guardian must supply acceptable identification, and complete a Driver Abstract Statement of Intent.
Requesting a Copy of Another Person’s Abstract on Their Behalf
An individual who is personally known to the driver who has written consent may apply in person for an abstract on the drivers behalf. The individual must present acceptable identification, complete a Driver Abstract Statement of Intent and present a Driver Abstract Consent form completed and signed by the driver whose information they are requesting.
Other Types of Abstract Requests
There are other situations where your information can be released to others, such as employers and lawyers. You would complete a Driver Abstract Consent form, consenting your employer or lawyer, and they would complete a Driver Abstract Statement of Intent.
Requesting a copy of your abstract when you are in another province/country.
If you are requesting your own abstract you must provide:
– Have prepaid postage or courier fees.
You must submit your documents and search fees to us by mail, registered mail or courier. Faxed copies are not accepted. Money orders should be made payable to New Urban Registry.
Types of Letters
We can provide the following types of confirmation letters:
New Urban Registry will provide a confirmation letter when confirmation of a motor vehicle operator or vehicle file is requested.
Operator Confirmation Letter
This letter will confirm all operator licence details. ie; date first licenced, licence number, driver’s name, date of birth etc.
Vehicle Confirmation Letter
This letter will confirm registration details. ie; date first registered by current/last owner, vin number, any leasing details, and vehicle status in Alberta.
